Microwaves

Microwaves have frequencies ranging from about 3 gigahertz up to about 30 trillion hertz, and wavelengths of about 30 centimeters to 3 millimeters. This means that they have the shortest wavelength and the highest frequency of the electromagnetic spectrum.

How Microwaves Are Used

Internet

Both mobile phones and WiFi use microwaves to transmit information.

Speed Detection

Microwaves used by fixed traffic speed cameras, and for radar, which is used by aircraft, ships and weather forcasters.

Food

Microwaves are used to heat food quickly.
